Face equality is a human right. And yet it’s being denied to many people that have a mark, scar or condition that impacts their appearance.
Discrimination against those with facial differences shows up in everyday ways. People tell us about the barriers they’re facing trying to access education for their children, or throughout the interview process at work, or the issues they’re having trying to access their own money in their own bank account.
Prejudice can impact how someone is treated in their local community, their access to safe housing, and the relationships they have with others. It can impact whether someone can travel safely, and how they’re treated in public spaces.
We’re working to change all of that. But we can’t do it on our own.
Societal mindsets, policy design, legal protections. They all take time to shift. You might feel like you don’t necessarily have the power to change them. But that’s where we’re stronger together. The barriers facing the facial difference community are too big to tackle alone, but your recurring donation allows us to keep fighting.
